Home sales in Palm Beach County were not as strong last month as they were earlier in 2013. But December’s sales were still a league ahead of numbers from that month the previous year, according to the Realtors Association of the Palm Beaches. The median sales price for a single-family home was up 15 percent year-over-year – reaching $265,000. The number of closed deals jumped by 12 percent to 1,325 in December.

“It is by far the best we have seen in any December in the past five years,” Barbara Kozlow, president of the association, told the Palm Beach Post.

The state also showed positive year-over-year results. The number of single-family home sales increased 9 percent, and the median sales price climbed 11 percent to $172,630, the data show. [Palm Beach Post]Mark Maurer
