seven50_webPalm Beach County commissioners voted this morning to receive and file a county attorney’s memo regarding Seven50, a 50-year development vision for the seven-county region that stretches from Indian River County to Monroe County. The vote ends debate on the planning blueprint.

The non-binding plan calls for a cooperative effort to address issues such as business, housing, roads and water over a period when the region is expected to grow by 3 million people.

Opponents have criticized the $4 million federal grant that paid for the study, and believe that the plan is an effort by the federal government to trump the land-use authority of local officials, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Some 20 officials opposed the plan and are calling for a town hall meeting before any action is taken on Seven50. [PBP]Christopher Cameron
