Terra Group plans tower addition on HoJo’s site

The Terra Group wants to build an addition for its proposed condominium tower on the site of the Howard Johnson Plaza Dezerland Beach and Spa in Miami Beach.

The developer is seeking a zoning variance for the additional height, which would put the tower at 17 stories tall. To make this happen, Terra proposed paying up to $6 million on renovations tied to North Shore Open Space Park. The vacant parking lot sits on the north side of the former hotel.

In December, Terra, led by David Martin, paid $65 million for Dezer Properties, which owned the 225-room hotel at 8701 Collins Avenue at 87th Street for roughly 15 years, as previously reported. [Curbed] — Mark Maurer
