West Palm Beach now focus of baseball stadium talks

West Palm Beach is emerging as the potential home of a new Major League Baseball spring training stadium for the Houston Astros and Washington Nationals.

City and Palm Beach County officials are talking with representatives from the two teams about the possibility of constructing a $100 million stadium and training facility in West Palm. Another meeting is expected to occur within two weeks. County commissioners approved starting negotiations with the Astros and Nationals in March.

Different sites throughout the county were considered in recent months, but the focus is now on 160 acres between Haverhill Road and Military Trail in West Palm.
