Chile’s Atton Hotels is starting construction on a 275-room project in Miami’s Brickell area.

The company hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for its 12-story Atton Brickell Hotel on Friday morning, according to a written announcement released by an Atton spokesperson. Atton hopes to finish the $65 million project at 1500 Southwest First Avenue by early 2016. The development is expected to create 400 construction and 130 permanent jobs.

Amenities include a ground-floor restaurant, about 7,000 square feet of event space, a poolside bar and 177 parking spaces.

Atton Brickell is the company’s first U.S. hotel project.

“Miami is a global destination for business and leisure travelers alike,” Atton CEO Francisco Levine said in the company’s statement. “Miami outperforms most other U.S. markets in visitors and is considered the capital of Latin America, where we already have a strong brand recognition and a large client base.” — Eric Kalis
