$50M Fashion Mall lawsuit dropped, refiled

Plantation’s Fashion Mall owner Tangshan Ganglu Iron & Steel Company filed a lawsuit alleging misuse of funds during a recent redevelopment project, but a federal court has dismissed the suit. The mall owner quickly refilled in state court, however.

U.S. District Judge James I. Cohen ruled that because both plaintiff and defendant, Wei Chen and Mapuche, are Chinese citizens that it wouldn’t be proper for this case to be heard in U.S. federal court, according to the South Florida Business Journal.

No ruling was made on Ganglu’s allegation that Chen misappropriated $48.7 million of the $50 million in funding that was provided for the redevelopment project. [SFBJ] – Christopher Cameron
