Carls Furniture closes showrooms

After 73 years, Coconut Creek-based Carls Furniture is shutting its doors for good, following announcements that is would close showrooms in Fort Lauderdale, Pompano Beach and Coconut Creek.

Carls began liquidating its inventory in March, and will auction leftover items from Thursday to Monday at the Fort Lauderdale and Coconut Creek stores, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

“Everything will be auctioned off, piece by piece,” Luis Melendez, Jr., vice president of APJL Consulting, the firm handling the liquidation for Carls, said. “There’s nowhere to go with all these.”

“It’s sad to see it go,” added Michael Villecco of Oakland Park, a longtime Carls customer. “This is where I’ve always come to for quality furniture.” [Sun-Sentinel] – Christopher Cameron
