The Miami chapter of Commercial Real Estate Women (or CREW) landed former First Lady and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton as the keynote speaker for its 2014 CREW Network Convention & Marketplace event in Miami Beach.

Clinton is one of several prominent speakers slated to address more than 1,000 commercial real estate professionals and other attendees between Sept. 30 and Oct. 3 at the Loews Hotel, according to CREW-Miami’s written announcement released on Tuesday. This marks the first time Miami has hosted the organization’s annual event in more than 20 years. Other scheduled speakers include Forbes Media chairman Steve Forbes, BBC World News America anchor and author Katty Kay and social media consultant and author Crystal Washington.

Several tours and satellite events are being planned during the convention, including a Sept. 30 tour of the Brickell area led by developers Jeff Berkowitz and Ugo Colombo and broker Tere Blanca and a party at Adrienne Arsht’s home on Oct. 2.

“CREW Network Convention & Marketplace is a unique opportunity to meet and connect with business and industry leaders from across North America, while learning about tactics and strategies that they are finding to be successful in their own markets,” CREW-Miami president Karyl Argamasilla said. “As a host city, we get to showcase our local market, demonstrate why Miami is at the forefront of international inbound investment and is also the gateway city of the Americas.” — Eric Kalis
