Another big Florida acquisition for Avison Young

Commercial real estate services firm Avison Young just announced its second big Florida expansion this week with the acquisition of Orlando-based MCRE LLC, which operates as Morrison Commercial Real Estate.

The deal gives Avison its sixth office in the state and 44th office nationwide, according to the company’s written announcement released Thursday. Morrison was launched in 2007 and specializes in the office and industrial sectors. Company founder Greg Morrison and executive Lisa Bailey are now Avison principals, with Morrison also becoming managing director of the firm’s new Orlando office.

Earlier this week, Avison announced an agreement to purchase Miami-based Abood Wood-Fay Real Estate Group LLC, which does business as Colliers International South Florida. That deal is expected to close within the next 30 days.

Avison opened its first South Florida offices in October 2012. These acquisitions nearly double the firm’s Florida employees to more than 170. — Eric Kalis
