Holman Automotive picked up a site on Fort Lauderdale’s South Federal Highway with plans to convert an existing building into a new MINI Cooper showroom.

The company acquired the 1.1-acre property at 2150 South Federal Highway for $3.7 million, according to Friday’s announcement from Berger Commercial Realty, which represented Holman in the deal. A 38,000-square-foot building at the site used to be the home of Air & Sea Rent-A-Car. The property also includes a 185-space parking garage.

Element Three Inc. is the seller.

Holman is building a $15 million MINI service center six blocks away at 2627 South Andrews Avenue. Local architects Falkanger, Snyder, Martineau and Yates will design both the service center and showroom.

Berger senior vice president Steve Hyatt represented Holman in the acquisition. The firm announced an alliance with TCN Worldwide last week. — Eric Kalis
