More than 2,100 acres of the Richmond Heights and Metrozoo area could become a new community redevelopment agency if the Miami-Dade County Commission approves it.

The agency would cover the Coast Guard station, the Gold Coast Railroad Museum, land owned by the University of Miami and a controversial site that UM sold to Ram Real Estate, according to a published report.

The CRA would be the second-largest in the county, covering Southwest 152nd Street down to Southwest 184th Street and from Southwest 137th Avenue over to Southwest 117th Avenue, as reported by the South Florida Business Journal.

The commission’s Health & Social Services committee is expected to vote on the agency on Dec. 8. The full commission would have to approve it at a later date. [South Florida Business Journal] — Katherine Kallergis
