A real estate agent from Tucson, Ariz. was the first approved to use a drone to sell homes, and South Florida’s Realtors are taking notice.

The FAA-approval allows the real estate agent to take photos and videos of homes using drones, or unmanned aircraft systems, according to a published report.

“From my perspective and the marketplace’s perspective, there is too much at stake for businesses for the FAA to just dismiss this off hand,” said Paul Morris, owner of Miami Aerial, the Palm Beach Post reported. Miami Aerial has been using drones to take real estate-related photos and video for more than a year. “There is a lot of economic interest from many industries.”

Morris told the Post that he plans on applying for an exemption to use drones for that purpose. [Palm Beach Post]Katherine Kallergis
