The Signature Bridge project in downtown Miami has hit a roadblock: A piece of the Metromover has to be relocated.
The land bridge is part of a $600 million project to renovate a 1.4-mile section of I-395, stretching from the MacArthur Causeway bridge to west of I-95.
The Florida Department of Transportation, which is leading the project, has determined that a pier supporting the Metromover has to be moved for the bridge. The Miami-Dade County Commission has to approve the relocation, The Next Miami reported.
FDOT has said construction will be limited to non-operating hours, and a corridor to the beach will remain open, the publication reported.
The organization is still deciding between two designs named Wishbone and Lotus, with the option of a third design if the project’s architects propose it.
Concept plans for the project are expected in April, and construction could follow soon after that. [The Next Miami] — Sean Stewart-Muniz
