Plans for Florida-based developer Richard Siemens’ high end condos at Boca West Country Club now include more condos — some of which will be less than $1 million.

Construction on Akoya at Boca West will begin this month, the Sun Sentinel reported. The original 120-unit project with prices ranging from $1.25 million to more than $2 million will now be a 140-unit project with prices starting at $830,000.

Siemens told the Sun Sentinel that buyers wanted more end units and less square footage. He expects to start construction this month on Akoya at Boca West. There will be more units, but some will be smaller and less expensive.

Akoya is reportedly the first residential development inside Boca West in about 20 years. The 3,400-home country club sits on 2,000 acres between Yamato Road and Glades Road next to the Florida Turnpike.

Siemens paid $13.5 million for the seven-acre site inside the club in January, property records show. The development will be within walking distance of Boca West’s amenities, which include seven restaurants, four golf courses, 31 tennis courts and a 38,000-square-foot spa.
