The 6,200-square-foot convenience store would be joined by a 180,000-square-foot hotel, according to the South Florida Business Journal.

Hertz Corp. bought the 8.8-acre site at 1520 Belvedere Road for $2 million in 1999, Palm Beach County property records show. The car rental company filed an application to rezone the site, the newspaper reported.

Michael Goldstein, attorney for developer Brightwork Real Estate told the Palm Beach Post that a second and final vote is expected next month and construction could start in about 18 months. Brightwork filed the application on behalf of Hertz. [South Florida Business Journal, Palm Beach Post]Katherine Kallergis
