Margate firm to build Plantation self-storage center

Margate-based Preferred Realty & Development plans to build a self-storage center in Plantation.

The company expects to start construction in the first quarter of 2017 and open the self-storage center by the end of the year, Tom Speno, director of Preferred Realty, told the Sun-Sentinel.

Speno told the newspaper that the self-storage market wants upscale air-conditioned facilities with ample security: “There’s really a lack of supply of that product.”

Preferred Realty plans to build a three-story self-storage center at 4501 West Sunrise Boulevard in Plantation.

The company will build on a 2.5-acre site, which will have space for future development after the self-storage center opens.
