Prologis buys Opa-locka warehouse for $16M

This is the second distribution warehouse Prologis has purchased in the Opa-locka area this year

Prologis just picked up an Opa-locka warehouse for $16 million.

Property records show the Florida-based American Fruit & Produce Corp. sold the 117,052-square-foot warehouse at 12805 Le Jeune Road for about $137 per square foot. American Fruit & Produce Corp is managed by Hugo Jr. Acosta.

The two-story building was built in the 1970s and sits on a 14.5 acre lot. American Fruit & Produce Corp bought the warehouse in 2003 for $9.5 million, records show.

This is the second distribution warehouse Prologis has purchased in the Opa-locka area this year. In March, the industrial real estate giant paid $25.75 million for a 343,553-square-foot warehouse at 12300 Northwest 32nd Avenue in Miami.

Prologis has been actively buying selling industrial properties in South Florida. In recent days it sold a site west of Dolphin Mall to Topgolf USA for $11.7 million.

Prologis also recently announced it was selling land to Stiles Corp. to develop the retail component of Beacon Lakes, its industrial park, where tenants include Amazon, UPS and Ryder System.

NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises is also building a $250 million headquarters at Beacon Lakes.
