A project started two years ago by former Rep. Mike Davis of Naples to provide affordable housing for schoolteachers, police officers and firefighters is now facing financial setbacks, after the state’s budget crunch has caused hundreds of millions of dollars set aside for the initiative to be reassigned. The House budget proposal would use the $333 million remaining for Davis’ program in other budget areas, while a Senate proposal would only take out $75 million.
