Growth management backers sue for ballot initiative

Supporters of a proposed state constitutional amendment that would require voter approval for changes in county and city growth planning sued Wednesday to get the citizens initiative on the November ballot. The Florida Hometown Democracy amendment missed a new petition-gathering deadline, but the lawsuit, filed in West Palm Beach, argues the February 1 cutoff date violated the U.S. Constitution.
