The city of Sunrise approved a contract for Stiles Construction Co.
Tuesday to build a $30 million public safety complex near City Hall.
The city has needed to replace its fire and police headquarters since
an earlier complex was made unusable by mold in 2005. It was destroyed
in 2007. The police department’s 300 employees are scattered throughout
the city in eight locations, Brooks said. The new headquarters is
expected to open in early 2011. A groundbreaking is planned for Friday morning.
