A Palm Beach County Circuit Court judge has appointed a caretaker to oversee the Palm Beach Mall, which is in the middle of a foreclosure lawsuit. Several tenants have left the mall as the number of customers has declined. Florida Power & Light threatened to shut off power to the mall May 1 because the power and water bills had not been paid; they were paid by owner Simon Property Group at the last minute. Receiver Chuck Taylor, senior vice president of Washington-based real estate investment firm Madison Marquette, will ensure that the mall’s bills are paid and may bring new tenants to the space.

The Palm Beach Mall is more viable than ever, thanks to the new Target store soon to open across from it on Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard. Surely the Simon group and other interested parties would not want one store to do all the local business! And it has to be noted that this mall is still the closest one to Palm Beach itself. Upscale stores should not be overlooked here!

This is a great piece of dirt and Madison Marquette will do an excellent job looking into redeveloping this center into an upscale destination. Can’t wait! Glad Simons out – they have run down this place!
