There are nearly 300 newly constructed condo units unsold in the
Hollywood Beach/Hallandale Beach area through the first half of the
year, which is about 5 percent of the total inventory constructed
during the boom, according to a new report from Condo Vultures. There
are far fewer units for sale in the area compared to Miami Beach
and Sunny Isles Beach and Miami Beach, each of which has at least 20
percent of its new product still for sale. In the last seven years,
buyers paid a total of $2.2 billion for 4,666 newly built units in the
area, or an average of $360 per square foot. Peter Zalewski, founder of Condo Vultures, said the area also benefited from seeing most of its
product become available for purchase before the crash. TRD
