Governor Rick Scott signed a bill today at the South Florida Water Management District that cuts the district’s property tax revenue by $128 million and is expected to result in job losses, salary and benefit cuts for its 1,933 workers.

Scott heralded the bill as a fulfillment of his campaign promise to cut taxes, streamline government and hold agencies responsible for spending, the Palm Beach Post reported.

Across Florida as a whole, the cuts will save homeowners and businesses $210.5 million in property taxes. The law also requires districts to file reports with governing boards and post reports on their websites. [Palm Beach Post]
