Concerns linger over Flagler Memorial Bridge replacement designs

Palm Beach’s Landmarks Preservation Commission has brought on three
high-profile local architects on the Flagler Memorial Bridge replacement
project, following concerns about the proposed design. Board member
Jacqueline Albarran, ex-chairman Gene Pandula and Architectural Review
Commission Chairman Jeff Smith will all meet with the building team and
the Florida Department of Transportation before the board’s next meeting
Oct. 19. The new team members will not overhaul the designs, however.
“We’re talking about the fenestration, the stone work [and] the
railings,” Albarran said. “We’re talking about details, not the whole
