A group of homeowners have filed a lawsuit against drywall manufacturer
Knauf and its Chinese affiliate, Knauf Plasterboard Tianjin, looking for
punitive damages against the two companies. “They’ve engaged in conduct
that endangered every American consumer that had defective drywall,”
said lawyer Victor Diaz. “They concealed it from the American consuming
public in order to protect their financial interests.” Knauf said the
company acted honestly regarding the product, citing its remediating
program. One Miami homeowner has alleged that the company continued to
sell the defective product even after finding out about its defects. [Miami
