Walmart officially announces plans for first Miami store in Flagami

Walmart has officially announced its plans for its first store in the City of Miami. The Walmart Neighborhood Market will be located at 6991 SW 8 Street in Flagami, the site of the former Everglades Lumber store. Construction will launch in 2013, with a planned opening of 2014. “It has been nearly 10 years since we have seen significant development come to Flagami and Walmart is leading the way in bringing new retail to this neighborhood,” Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado said. The 54,000-square-foot store will be approximately one-third of the size of a typical Walmert supercenter. — Alexander Britell
