Residential construction contracts in Miami have risen 90 percent for the year to date, according to a report released Tuesday by McGraw-Hill Construction. There have been a total of $2.4 billion in construction contracts in Miami this year, up from $1.27 billion through the same time period in 2011. That has been accompanied by a 43 percent rise in nonresidential contracts to $1.99 billion. In all, there have been a total of $4.4 billion in contracts for future construction in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties through September, according to the data, a 66 percent increase over 2011. — Alexander Britell
