Tornado sweeps through Tampa leaving downed trees, minor home damage

A minor tornado in the process of tearing its way through Tampa has caused minor damage to rooftops in the region, CBS Miami reported.

Winds of 91 miles per hour were reported in Cedar Key, an island community in Levy County, this morning, the site said, causing downed trees and some damage to homes.

The tornado watch remains in effect until 3 p.m. today for Citrus, Hernando, Sumter, Pasco, Pinellas, Hillsborough, Polk, Manatee, Sarasota, Hardee, DeSoto and Highlands counties. [CBS Miami] –Guelda Voien
