An All Aboard Florida station could jumpstart investment in Fort Lauderdale, South Florida Business Journal reported.

The station would likely be located north of Broward Boulevard, near the central bus terminal and where the maintenance facility is planned for The Wave, a streetcar that will run from north of Flagler Village to Broward Health Medical Center, the Journal said.

“This addition will revitalize the northern downtown area and generate new economic opportunities,” Mike Reininger, president and chief development officer of All Aboard Florida, told the Journal.

Florida East Coast Industries is developing the private passenger rail service, which would connect Miami to Orlando, and is planning retail, hotel and residential development around the Miami station site. [SFBJ]Emily Schmall
