Fla.’s construction activity rises 39.8 percent year over year

Construction in Florida’s metropolitan areas jumped 39.8 percent in the second quarter of this year compared to the same time a year ago, Berkshire Hathaway’s BusinessWire reported.

In the state’s cities, major public and private projects reported $4.18 billion in activity in the quarter, according to BidClerk, a company that measures construction leads across the U.S.

The Orlando metropolitan area’s construction levels rose 46 percent, the most in Florida.

Miami-area’s total construction increased 30.5 percent from a year ago, and 4.8 percent from the first quarter of 2013. — Emily Schmall
