Developers of the All Aboard Florida passenger rail line from Miami to Orlando want Miami to have its own version of New York’s century-old station on an even larger scale.

Plans submitted to Miami-Dade County in April include up to 1.5 million square feet of office space, and enough residential, retail and hotel to rival other Miami mega-projects in the works, according to exMiami.

Miami is currently processing the developer’s application for the project to be treated as a Special Area Plan so that the project can be fast-tracked to the public hearing phase without having submitting further plans or drawings. [exMiami]Emily Schmall
