Terra Group has started construction on luxury Miami Beach condo tower GLASS, The Real Deal has learned.
The company is building an 18-story fritted glass high-rise with only 10 full-floor residences at the 120 Ocean Drive property, the company announced Monday. Miami architect Rene Gonzalez designed the unique tower.
Seven of the 10 units, including a triplex penthouse, were sold before construction began, according to Terra. The remaining three residences are priced from $8 million. Terra expects GLASS to be ready for occupancy during the first quarter of 2015.
“With the start of construction, we are that much closer to delivering a rare opportunity to own an iconic Gonzalez-designed residence in a sought-after neighborhood,” Terra president and CEO David Martin said.
Buyers have the option to work directly with Gonzalez on interior unit design. Miami landscape architect Raymond Jungles designed the tower’s gardens and other landscaping features.
GLASS is the last high-rise tower to be built in the South of Fifth neighborhood of Miami Beach, according to Terra. City zoning does not currently accommodate additional high-rises in the area. — Eric Kalis
