West Palm tower’s sales staff hit with discrimination suit

The Fair Housing Center of the Greater Palm Beaches has accused the sales staff of West Pam Beach condominium building South Tower CityPlace of racial discrimination in a lawsuit filed today.

Black testers who were sent to 550 Okeechobee Boulevard said they were told no sales associates could help and that none of the units fit their price range. Soon after black testers left, white testers were assisted right away and were informed of units that ranged from $150,000 to $350,000 in price. The investigation ran from February last year to March this year.

Dallas-based Al Coker & Associates, which manages the staff at the condo, denied the claims.

“They’re groundless,” Al Coker told the Palm Beach Post. “I am Hispanic and the vice president of my company is Hispanic. I find discrimination absolutely appalling and to be accused of it, I take umbrage at it.” [Palm Beach Post] — Mark Maurer
