The Real Deal lost a member of its family this week with the sudden death of South Florida sales director Leora Brinkley.

Brinkley died in her sleep at her Boynton Beach home Saturday. The cause of death was not yet confirmed, but her family said she apparently suffered a seizure. She was 43.

Hired by The Real Deal in July to oversee business development in South Florida and assist with New York sales and marketing efforts, Brinkley made an immediate impression with her colleagues and bosses.

“It’s never easy losing a team member, especially one who brought so much positivity to the group,” TRD publisher Amir Korangy said. “She was always quick to greet clients and coworkers with a hug. How do you not miss something like that? Needless to say, our hearts are heavy with Leora’s loss and her picture will forever be on our wall. She was one of the awesome ones.”

A fixture at real estate industry events, Brinkley was known for her ever-present smile. That relentless positivity and work ethic stood out during her short tenure with the company.

“Leora was one of the most passionate people I’ve worked with in my career,” TRD National Advertising Director Ross Fox said. “I had the opportunity to get to know her well and I’ll miss her very much.”

Before joining The Real Deal, Brinkley spent two years as a client specialist with Boca Raton-based CHG Healthcare Services. From 1996 to 2011, Brinkley amassed a variety of marketing experience during stints with the Orlando Convention and Visitors Bureau, Cox Media Group, the Palm Beach Post and WPTV Newschannel 5.

She studied marketing at Christopher Newport University in Virginia and the Tampa-based Center for Sales Strategy.

Brinkley is survived by her mother, Ora Brinkley, sister Lalita Samrai and son Morgan Whitaker.

Funeral arrangements are not yet finalized. The Real Deal will provide the details when they become available.
