Repairs to the Bear Cut Bridge in Key Biscayne will not be wrapped up in time for the Sony Open tennis tournament later this month.

And in response, village officials are increasing police and fire staff, as well as tournament circulator buses and traffic flow information signs in a bid to limit congestion, according to Miami Today.

“Obviously, it’s an unusual condition and we’ve been living with it now for a year. By and large we’ve accommodated to the need to repair the bridge, actually bridges, plural,” said Frank Caplan, Key Biscayne’s mayor.

County officials had said that repairs to the bridge would be completed by February. They now estimate the project will wrap up in June. [Miami Today]Christopher Cameron
