A prominent hotelier is now overseeing the Palm House hotel project, which has been in the works for seven years.

Gordon Campbell Gray, who is based in London and Beirut, agreed to take operational control of the Palm Beach project, the Palm Beach Daily News reported. Property owner 160 Royal Palm originally approached Gray last fall but couldn’t finalize an agreement with the hotelier until recently. Gray hopes to get the 92-room hotel ready to open by the end of 2014.

Developer Glenn Straub sold the Palm House property to 160 Royal Palm for $10 million in September 2013. Straub acquired the hotel during a 2009 foreclosure auction. The original developer, Robert Matthews of Palm Beach, ran into financial problems after beginning a renovation of the hotel in 2007.
