Downtown Fort Lauderdale is about to have its first new office project in six years.
Attorney Jeff Ostrow is slated to begin construction on the 40,000-square-foot One West Las Olas on Wednesday. He hopes the building kick starts additional development at the nearby Las Olas Riverfront complex. Ostrow acquired the project site in 2002 and was delayed by the governmental approval process and last decade’s economic crash.
The building is scheduled to open in summer 2015, according to the Sun-Sentinel. Ostrow’s 40-attorney firm plans to occupy some of the office space. One additional office tenant and an undetermined ground-floor retailer are also expected to move into the building when it is finished.
Stiles completed a 200,000-square-foot building for AutoNation in 2008. That was the last new office tower completed in downtown Fort Lauderdale. [Sun-Sentinel] — Eric Kalis
