Football star Julius Peppers plunked down $5.2 million for a Coral Gables mansion, The Real Deal has learned.

The Green Bay Packers outside linebacker/defensive end acquired the 9,100-square-foot home in a transaction recorded on Monday, according to Miami-Dade County records. Peppers did not obtain financing for the purchase of the eight-bedroom residence, which was constructed in 2006.

Stefan and Daysi Johansson sold the 10700 Snapper Creek Road manse to Peppers. The couple paid nearly $1.3 million for the 58,000-square-foot property in October 2000. A five-bedroom, 8,433-square-foot house was constructed on the land in 1960 before getting razed to make way for the mansion.

Josie Wang of Avatar Real Estate Services was the listing agent.

A member of the University of North Carolina’s football and basketball teams, Peppers was drafted by the Carolina Panthers with the second pick of the 2002 National Football League draft. He spent eight seasons with the Panthers and four with the Chicago Bears before joining the Packers as a free agent in March.
