Fort Lauderdale’s Anheuser Busch Estate sells for $12.5M

A trust that includes prominent Canadian trader Michael Wekerle paid $12.5 million for the Anheuser Busch Estate in Fort Lauderdale, The Real Deal has learned.

The Wekerle Family 2011 Trust acquired the 1000 Riviera Drive mansion in a transaction recorded on Wednesday, according to Broward County records. Wekerle and Mark Van Remortel are identified as co-trustees of the buying trust.

CommutAir founder Antony von Elbe sold the waterfront home to the trust. He paid nearly $4 million for the property in 1994.

Von Elbe gave the trust a $9 million mortgage as part of the transaction. The loan is due in June 2021.

The six-bedroom, seven-bathroom manse totals 12,533 square feet, according to listings. It was originally constructed in 1938 for the Busch family.

Tim Elmes of Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate was the listing agent. The home was listed with an asking price of $12.9 million.
