Former Tamarac association president charged with fraud

A former homeowners association president in Tamarac is accused of stealing more than $180,000 from her community.

Michelle Changar-Coe was arrested on Friday and accused of forging dozens of checks and depositing them into her personal bank account. Changar-Coe, 44, served as president of the Mainlands Section 7 association from January 2009 through December 2013. She allegedly forged the signatures of at least four people without their knowledge between May 2011 and October 2013.

A board member discovered the forged checks during an audit of the association’s financial records, according to the Sun-Sentinel. Changar-Coe is also accused of fraudulently creating an agreement to pay someone nearly $2,600 per month to represent the association at Tamarac’s City Hall. [Sun-Sentinel] — Eric Kalis
