Miami’s balconies might be getting bigger.

The city is reportedly considering amending the Miami 21 zoning code, in the T6 Transect Zones. The new regulations would allow balconies on the eighth floor of a building, or above, to encroach three feet into the required setback.

Currently, infringements aren’t allowed above the eighth floor except for reasons that promote energy efficiency such as shading and screening devices, The Next Miami reported.

The Planning, Zoning and Appeals Board was scheduled to review the new regulations at a meeting last week. Miami’s Planning Department is responsible for recommending approval of the changes. [The Next Miami] — Kristina Puga
