Palm Beach shopping center renovation begins

After three years of waiting, a $1.2 million renovation of the Nassau Square shopping center in Lake Worth has begun.

The shopping center, just east of Florida’s Turnpike on Lake Worth Road, was built in 1984. Among the improvemeents are a new facade, lighting, parking lot and a remodeling of Publix. A McDonald’s is expected open in 90 days, according to published reports.

The strip mall is 83-percent occupied. Metro Lumber and Hardware is expected to open a 45,000-square-foot store in February, the Palm Beach Post reported. Dollar Tree and the Brass Monkey Sports Bar & Grill have renewed leases of 10,350 square feet and 4,100 square feet respectively.

Bill Reichel, leasing and property management agent of the shopping center, told the Post that the center is ripe for renovation with a new turnpike interchange just opening at Lake Worth Road and the area’s changing demographics.

“There’s a substantial amount of land approved for new residential development in the area. Stalled during the recession, that development is now coming back on-line,” Reichel said. [Palm Beach Post] —  Kristina Puga
