The Boca West Country Club is embarking on a $50 million renovation project, starting with the demolition of its clubhouse, the property announced.

The 1,400-acre country club, at 20583 Boca West Drive, is home to about 3,400 families. It was first developed by the Arvida Corp. in 1971, and now includes amenities that range from restaurants to more than 30 tennis courts.

The current clubhouse, however, has been targeted for demolition by the community’s ownership. Planned to replace the existing facility is a 120,000-square-foot, two-story building. It will house new restaurants, retail space, a bar and grill, locker rooms, a ballroom and a staging area for golf carts. Completion is slated for December 2016.

“The new Golf and Activities Center will complement the tremendous golf and tennis programs currently at Boca West,” said Jay DiPietro, general manager and president of the country club, in a statement. “During the renovation there will be no interruption to the first rate services that our members and guests are accustomed to, including access to our restaurants, golf courses, tennis, spa and fitness center.” — Sean Stewart-Muniz
