Eloy Carmenate has joined Douglas Elliman’s Miami office as executive director, The Real Deal has learned.
Carmenate, previously with One Sotheby’s International Realty, will lead sales for Terra Group’s Eighty Seven Park in Miami Beach. Carmenate said the offer was “too good to turn down. Who gets to market a building with Renzo Piano?”
As sales director for Eighty Seven Park, he’s already secured reservations for 10 units in the 70-unit building at 8701 Collins Avenue. The project is being designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop, Rena Dumas Architecture Intérieure and WEST 8 Urban Design & Landscape Architecture, the latter of which designed the Miami Beach Soundscape Park.
Carmenate was previously executive vice president at ONE Sotheby’s International Realty, where he sold more than $100 million at Glass, an 18-story residential development in Miami Beach’s South of Fifth neighborhood.
“[Glass] set the bar for design and architecture. It averaged $2,400 per square foot, and that was non-waterfront. What that told me is that people are hungry for true design and architecture,” he said. “With Renzo Piano, it’s not about what you see; it’s about what you don’t see.”
Eighty Seven Park, a planned 20-story tower surrounding by more than 200 trees, will replace the 10-story Howard Johnson Dezerland Hotel, originally known as Biltmore Terrace.
Carmenate, ranked in the top 1 percent of producers in the United States and No. 7 in Miami, according to a release, said that Elliman’s connection to New York, the Northeast and internationally with Knight Frank was also a big draw for him.
“I love Douglas Elliman’s platform, and we’ve been talking for many years,” he told TRD.
“We are thrilled to welcome such a remarkable agent to the Douglas Elliman team,” Jay Phillip Parker, CEO of Elliman’s Florida brokerage, said in a statement. “Carmenate is highly regarded both regionally and nationally as a poised and driven real estate agent serving elite luxury clientele. He continuously defies expectations in all that he does and we look forward to supporting his future success.”
