A modern-styled mansion just sold for $5.45 million in Golden Beach, a small oceanfront town in Northeast Miami-Dade County.

The home, at 584 Ocean Boulevard, was put up for sale in December with an asking price of $5.5 million. It went under contract in March, and the sale has closed as of Friday. Nelson Gonzalez of Esslinger Wooten Maxwell had the listing.

It sits on a half-acre dry lot across the street from the Atlantic Ocean. The home, which measures 8,298 square feet, was built in 2001 and designed by the late Ricardo Legorreta — a modernist architect who worked in both the United States and his native Mexico.

His design for this Golden Beach mansion included an all-white exterior, which wraps around a large pool deck that’s shrouded in palm trees. Inside, deep-colored tiles and hardwood floors contrast the off-white walls. Modern finishes and furniture can be found throughout.

The sale, at $657 per square foot, is a relatively pricey one for a dry lot in Golden Beach. The surrounding mid-century homes have recent recorded sales prices that dip below $2 million or even $1 million. Newer construction does command higher prices, however.

Golden Beach has a population of less than 1,000. Despite its small size, the neighborhood sees a lot of real estate activity: two pre-construction spec houses sold earlier this month for $10.4 million, an unusually shaped home hit the market in March with an asking price of $8.2 million, and famed Latin singer Ricky Martin sold his waterfront manse there in 2012.
