Palm Beach’s Colony Hotel completes $14M revamp

The Colony Hotel in Palm Beach has completed the last portion of its $14 million overhaul of the property, the hotel announced on Monday. 

Interior designer and decorator Carleton Varney of Dorothy Draper & Co. led the renovation, which included the Colony’s pavilion ballroom, three penthouses and seven two-bedroom villas – all part of the final $4 million phase.

“Not only did this re-imagining include an extraordinary, state-of-the-art, computerized sound and lighting system, but also a new ceiling, new carpet, new chandeliers, and a new two-layer custom-designed wall covering,” Roger Everingham, the hotel’s vice president and general manager, said in the press release.

Colony Hotel Inc. has owned the 1-acre property since 1969, when the company paid just more than $1 million for it, according to Palm Beach County records. The hotel, at 155 Hammon Avenue, was first built in 1947. It has 64 guest rooms, 16 suites, the three penthouse suites and seven villas. Amenities include two pools and a business center. – Katherine Kallergis
