The InterContinental Hotels Group, known for its Holiday Inn and Staybridge Suites brands, has just announced plans to build the Southeast’s first EVEN hotel in Miami.

InterContinental has partnered with Epelboim Developers, a local real estate firm, to develop its 189-room hotel near Miami International Airport. The developer expects it to open by early 2018.

The hotel’s official name would be EVEN Hotel Miami — Airport, and it would be located in the Palmer Lake area east of the airport.

“As one of the busiest airports in the U.S. and a major international gateway city, the EVEN Hotels brand will be exactly what travelers are looking for in order to maintain the balance they desire,” Noel Epelboim, CEO and president of Epelboim, said in the announcement.

The hotel will be located exactly at at 3499 Northwest 25th street, a 1.85-acre lot that overlooks a lagoon. The land currently houses a 7,197-square-foot industrial property. Miami-Dade County property records show Epelboim paid $3.8 million for the property in June, which roughly breaks down to $47 per square foot.

This will be the hospitality giant’s fifth EVEN-branded hotel, according to its website. The other four are located in New York, Connecticut and Maryland.
