Shake Shack, Anthropologie and Free People to join Metropica

The developers of Metropica have released a string of tenants, including Anthropologie, Miami-based Salsa Fiesta and Free People, that will lease space at the $1 billion project.

Metropica, a 65-acre master-planned community in Sunrise, broke ground on its first residential tower on Tuesday, YOO at Metropica. The retail component will span 400,000 square feet and break ground in early 2016.

Shake Shack, Pisco y Nazca, Salsa Fiesta and True Food Kitchens will open restaurants in an 80,000-square-foot space, according to a press release. Centurion Restaurant Group, the firm behind Coral Gables-based Bulla Gastrobar, will open Pisco y Nazca, a Peruvian cevicheria, at Codina Partners’ Downtown Doral as well. Shake Shack, which has locations in Boca Raton, Coral Gables and Miami Beach, will open its first Broward eatery at Metropica.

True Food Kitchen, an organic and health-based restaurant chain, is opening its first Florida outpost. Salsa Fiesta has locations in Miami, Pembroke Pines, Aventura, Fort Lauderdale, Coral Springs, Miami Lakes, Jackson Memorial, Kendall, South Miami and Doral.

New retailers to the project include Anthropologie, its first in Broward; Free People; Kendra Scott jewelry; and Oil and Vinegar, a gourmet retail store.

Kings Bowl will also lease space and will include bowling, billiards and social games, as well as a restaurant. Luxury movie theater iPic Theaters had been previously announced for the retail and dining phase of the development. IPic will span 45,000 square feet and eight auditoriums.

“We have taken the best and brightest attributes of other communities from around the world acknowledging what makes them special as well as analyzing where they fall short and with that type of approach we set out to achieve and develop the perfect master-planned mixed-use community,” Joseph Kavana, CEO of KGH International Development LLC, said in the release.

Metropica will have eight residential towers, 650,000 square feet of office space, and landscaped parks, the latter of which will be designed by EDSA. When completed, the community will also feature a health and wellness center, a resort-style beach club and elevated recreational amenities such as tennis courts and mini soccer fields. Chad Oppenheim is the lead designer.
