Douglas Elliman just announced it’s leasing new office and retail space at the 801 Brickell commercial tower.
Elliman’s new lease is split between two spaces: a showroom and conference area facing Southeast Eighth Street, which measures just under 1,000 square feet, and 1,860 square feet of office space on the second floor.
“We chose to lease office space at 801 Brickell because as Douglas Elliman continues to grow our South Florida footprint, we require the best locations to provide our associates the best access to the market,” Jay Phillip Parker, CEO of Douglas Elliman’s Florida brokerage, said in a news release.
The landlord, insurance giant TIAA-CREF, was represented by Steven Rutchik of Colliers International South Florida. Douglas Elliman’s David Restainer represented his brokerage for the lease.
The 28-story office tower was first built in 1985 and has 415,000 square feet of space, of which 96 percent is leased out, according to the news release. Its features include a nine-story parking garage, conference facility, in-house cafe and floor-to-ceiling glass windows.
801 Brickell is also LEED Silver certified — the third-highest certification for a green building out of four levels. The LEED program, headed by the U.S. Green Building Council, seeks to independently rate buildings based on criteria like energy efficiency and innovation. — Sean Stewart-Muniz
