The team behind Coral Gables restaurant Bulla Gastrobar is launching the Peruvian cevicheria, designed by New York-based Celano Design Studios. The 5,400-square-foot eatery, which opens Thursday, features copper tones, teal and orange accents, walnut floors and handmade concrete tiles, according to a press release.

Terms of the lease and brokers involved would not be disclosed, according to a spokesperson.

The restaurant includes a dining room with two private rooms, a 600-square-foot outdoor patio and a bar, the latter of which includes a chandelier-like bottle display and custom-made bar stools. Celano has also designed restaurants like STK and Bagatelle in Miami Beach.

The Kendall location, at 8405 Mills Drive, suite 206, will be led by executive chef Miguel Fernandez, formerly of Gastón Acurio’s La Mar in San Francisco, and include chef partner Ryan Smith and sous chefs Fernando Salazar and Michael Elias. Joel Mesa is the restaurant’s mixologist. It will serve lunch and dinner, with dishes ranging from $8 to $23.

The menu is divided into ceviches, small plates and large plates, and will offer nearly 10 types of ceviche. Items include a “Que Bestia Burger” on a pretzel bun with tomato-panca chutney, rocoto pepper aioli and shoestring potato fries; pasta macho with quid ink noodles, clams, mussels, shrimp, corvine, macho sauce and parmesan cheese; and traditional dishes such as lomo saltado, stir-fry filet mignon, soy sauce, vinegar, onions, tomato wedges and arroz con choclo.

Codina Partners is developing Downtown Doral, where the restaurant will open in early 2016. When completed, the $1 billion project will include 2,840 residential units, charter school, a 3-acre park, and Main Street, which will have more than 180,000 square feet of retail and more than 1 million square feet of office space.

Pisco y Nazca will also be a tenant at Metropica, a $1 billion, 65-acre master-planned community in Sunrise. Metropica will include eight residential towers, landscaped parks, 650,000 square feet of office space and 400,000 square feet of retail. – Katherine Kallergis
